4 powerful truths about the mind
In a recent short video, I was reminded of some profound psychological truths that change the way we see ourselves and our inner experiences.
Here are four takeaways:
-
Our brains lie to us all the time. The mind tells stories shaped by old wounds, biases, and emotions—but those stories aren’t always real.
-
What we avoid controls us. Avoidance may seem like short-term relief, but in the long-term it reinforces fear, procrastination, and shame.
-
We are not who we think we are. Our identities are fluid and not shaped by static self-concepts that we repeatedly do.
-
We are hardwired for emotions, but we are designed to regulate them. True well-being comes from being able to consciously name, hold and use emotions instead of being hijacked.
Awareness helps us seeing through mental illusions, facing discomfort with courage, and choosing our actions intentionally.

Final reflection
Wherever you are on your mindfulness journey, whether you’re practicing quietly at home, doing group meditations, or taking a teacher training course, know that you’re part of something bigger: a shared intention to live with compassion, clarity, and presence.
Let these resources serve as inspiration and support on your ongoing journey.
