In the Middle Ages, most people worked on the land. They were peasants who rarely ventured far from their birthplace, so their world view was rather small. Similarly, their conception of the Creator God was small. To them, God was an all-powerful, wise, old, human-like figure who lived somewhere above them and would one day personally judge them.
People at the time didn’t realize the vast size of the planet they were standing on. For them, most of their universe can be seen from the nearest hilltop. Today, with the help of cosmology and the Hubble and James Webb space telescopes, our picture of the size of the universe is expanding ever further.
What we have learned since the Middle Ages includes the following insights:
1. The Earth is not the center of the universe. Obviously, when this was discovered, it was quite a shock.
2. The Earth is round. This was excellent news at the time: No more worrying about getting out to sea and sailing off the edge of the world.
3. The Earth revolves around the Sun. This means that while modern life on Earth may seem expensive at times, it comes with a free trip around the Sun once a year.
4. The Sun is more than a million times larger than the Earth.
5. There are more than 200 billion other suns in our own galaxy.
6. There are hundreds of billions of galaxies in the universe.
7. As big as the universe is, for God to be everywhere, God must be even bigger.
When you see God as an Infinite Being, Omnipresent, or Absolute, you have a sense of scale that still encompasses all of Creation, no matter how far the universe stretches. The infinity of Infinite Being embraces all space. The ‘Being’ part of Infinite Being created the entire space in his consciousness.
In fact, in a universe of infinite possibilities, how do we know it’s not just one of many universes? The possibility that there could be infinite universes in all of Creation boggles the mind even more. If there are infinite universes, then ours is but a small one compared to the Infinite Being who is the Creator of all that exists.
The question is, where does the individual fit into this vast scale of Creation?
As individuals, we all appear as a manifested part of the infinite possibilities of Creation. However, this is only the external appearance.
The deeper you go in consciousness, the more you become aware that All is One. That infinite possibilities are all expressions of the One. Underneath all expressions there is only the One, and the One is the Infinite Being.
In the ultimate reality of “All One,” you are not only a part of Infinite Being, but a viewpoint of the One. Nothing can truly be separate from the One. It can only be a side or point of view of the Other.
It means that deep inside you are the One. You are an infinite being.
Well, it may not be appropriate in this world of separate people to declare, “I personally am an Infinite Being.” But as you journey inward, into that sacred space of your inner being, the truth dawns. You know that deep down, this is who you are. You are an infinite being, and so is everyone else, at the level of their deepest spiritual essence.
Because humans are expressions of Infinite Being, the potential within us is infinite.
There are no limits to what you can become when returning to your original spiritual home. And there don’t need to be any limits to the life you’re leading now.
Society will benefit enormously if such insights become commonplace. Today, however, there is a good chance that you have been forced to be modest…ordinary, even, all your life. Society is terrified of the idea that someone can think of themselves as important. “Don’t even think of rising above your station,” they cry.
Admittedly, an inflated ego can be exhausting, but it really is time to question any social conditioning that limits human potential. A society that encourages all its members to do so to develop their full potential would be more supportive, creative and productive. Everyone would benefit.
When the kindness of the new reality replaces old-fashioned jealousy, cooperation replaces competition and the world becomes a better place.
The sooner people think about the unlimited human potential, the sooner they saturate the global consciousness atmosphere of the planet with the idea of the New Reality.
Just think of yourself like this:
“Infinite existence, infinite potential.”
